Project overview

This transformer protection project combined outdoor switching and overvoltage devices around distribution transformers. The goal was to improve protection against overload, short circuit and lightning events in outdoor installation environments.

Customer challenge

Distribution transformers are exposed to both network faults and atmospheric overvoltages. Without coordinated local protection, a single event can interrupt service and damage connected equipment.

Solution applied

  • Surge arresters for lightning and switching overvoltage limitation
  • Fuse cutouts for over-current protection near the transformer
  • Outdoor switch disconnectors for safe isolation during maintenance

Project outcome

The equipment package strengthens transformer-side protection and supports safer operation and maintenance on outdoor medium-voltage distribution networks.
